Care Home in Maidstone

Welcome to Loose Valley Care Home; a Nursing and Residential care home overlooking the picturesque and tranquil valley of Loose.

Character and charm

Formerly an old vicarage, the Home is a beautiful building which is located close to Staplehurst and Maidstone town centre.

The building itself boasts many original period features, with cosy lounges, a spacious dining room and bright and airy conservatory. Our private grounds are abundant with wildlife including our very own rabbits, guinea pigs, chickens and frog pond. The gardeners amongst us love wiling away the hours on our allotment growing all kinds of vegetables and we make the most of being outdoors, planting flowers or simply relaxing and socialising in the fresh air.

Home from home

Loose Valley is friendly and relaxed, with a real home from home environment for all the people we care for. Everyone is treated as an individual and we support choice and independence whilst providing meaningful person-centred care.

We understand how important it is for our residents to feel comfortable in their new surroundings, so we encourage everyone to bring their own belongings and treasured photos or ornaments to make their rooms familiar and homely. And for our Housekeeping and Maintenance teams, no job is too big or too small to add those finishing touches.

Resident of the Day

‘Resident of the Day’ helps us to understand and celebrate our residents’ likes and dislikes and the things that really make a difference to them. All team members – whether Carers, Nurses, Housekeepers or Maintenance – find out what’s important to each individual and give them the opportunity to pick their favourite meal for Chef to prepare, choose an activity they would like to do or add any special touches to their room. Family members are invited to be a part of this and we always provide feedback when their loved one has been Resident of the Day.

Recreation and leisure

To ensure that everyone continues to enjoy their own interests and hobbies, our Recreation and Well-Being team plan daily activities and outings in our minibus, seven days a week. We’re perfectly placed for visiting Leeds Castle and Mote Park, as well as boat trips along the River Medway and days out for fish and chips at the seaside in Sheerness. We also enjoy coffee at the nearby garden centre, pub lunches and taking in shows at the Hazlitt Theatre.

We also open our doors to singers and entertainers for a good sing-along, relax with Pilates sessions and get hands-on with arts and crafts and cake making. Family and friends are always welcome to join us and we’re lucky to be supported by some amazing volunteers who enthusiastically help out with our events and activities. We’re very much part of the community and have close ties with local schools whose choirs perform for us and our nearby church who visit the Home to offer communion each month.

As part of a group of Care Homes, we are extremely proud of our caring, supportive culture which embodies empathy, equity, professionalism and continuous improvement. Our shared values focus on the individual – from residents to team members – creating an inclusive environment with both residents and team members at the heart of what we do every day.

Nutrition and dining

We know how important it is for our residents to remain as independent as possible and to continue making their own choices; none so important as when it comes to food. Our Chef and Cooks create menus based around individual likes and dislikes, using local, fresh produce to create seasonal, home-made dishes. Our Nutrition and Wellness Manager, Leni, works alongside them to assess for any special nutritional needs and feedback is always encouraged to make sure that our menus remain varied and exciting. Mealtimes are always sociable, with a glass of wine on offer and room for relatives who wish to join us. Our conservatory can also be used for private family events or get-togethers.
