From the Cha Cha Cha to the Jitterbug at Loose Valley Care Home

On Thursday 30 January, Jackie our lovely volunteer, came in with her dance teacher James to put on a ballroom dancing show for our residents in our conservatory at Loose Valley Care Home.

It was such a fantastic show of different dances from the Cha Cha Cha, Rumba and Waltz to the Jive and Jitterbug!

James wall full of interesting facts about each dance – which country each had originated in and what year. It was so informative and we found out that the ‘Triple Rumba‘ – renamed the Cha Cha Cha – is Cuban, founded in the late 19th century.

The Jive proved particularly popular with our residents (…we asked them to do that one again!). The Waltz was beautiful, so slow and graceful. At the end of the performance, our residents cheered “Encore, encore!'”

The music was provided by Jackie’s husband David on the computer and amplifier; it sounded brilliant!

We can’t wait for them to come back soon to perform again.

Thank you Jackie, James and David for a show to remember!
