Happy birthday
We were delighted to celebrate our resident Trevor’s 89th birthday on Saturday 28 June at Loose Valley Care Home.
Trevor marked the occasion with a lovely afternoon tea, complete with a delicious birthday cake, and our residents and team members gathered to sing a cheerful rendition of ‘Happy birthday‘ as he blew out his candles.
The celebration continued on Sunday when Trevor’s family – his sons Jeremy and Ian, along with Ian’s partner Anita – joined him for a special birthday meal in our lounge. We helped prepare with table settings and plates, ready for the Chinese takeaway they brought with them, with jugs of refreshing juice to accompany the meal. Trevor’s wife, Rosemary, came along too, bringing extra smiles with cards and thoughtful presents, making it a truly memorable day surrounded by loved ones.
In the afternoon, our Activities Team added a magical touch with an ice cream trolley, complete with van-style chimes playing from an iPad! On this hot summer day, our residents and visitors alike were treated to refreshing ice creams and lollies. Paula from our team went from room to room with the chimes, while the trolley was wheeled in to offer a cooling surprise. Trevor’s family were amazed and deeply touched by the gesture, calling it a brilliant idea. It brought smiles to every corner of our Home.
A good giggle!
On Tuesday, our Home joined in the fun of International Joke Day – a perfect excuse to share a few laughs! Residents, team members and visitors all took part in telling light-hearted jokes, to bring both groans and giggles! It was a lovely way to brighten the day with simple humour and good company.
“I’m writing a book about glue – but I’m stuck on the first chapter!” Haha!
Music from Andy
In the afternoon, we welcomed the ever-popular Andy Mace, who entertained us with a set of upbeat summer tunes. Our residents enjoyed singing along and making song requests, creating a lovely feel-good atmosphere.
