Seasonal sock snowmen at Loose Valley Care Home

On Tuesday 3 December we got into the festive spirit with some Christmas crafts with our residents at Loose Valley Care Home.

Using the Daily Sparkle craft activity monthly booklet, we got the idea of making snowmen decorations from socks – so staff got to work buying new white socks and rummaging through their sock drawers!

We also needed a list of accessories including ribbon, stuffing, buttons, pipe cleaners, glue and wobbly eyes…

Our Recreation and Well-Being team, together with volunteer Jackie Grant, were on hand to help our residents make the jolly snowmen. It was a great craft session for Christmas; they were so much fun to create and our residents really enjoyed the activity. Paula kindly made up some little hats for the snowmen at home too, so they looked very smart in their ski and beanie hats.

So far, we have made 14 snowmen! We’ve combined some with mini xmas trees and mini reindeers to make some festive table decorations, which look great.

We’re also going to be getting stuck into some Christmas card making with our ladies and gents, when we will make good use of some of last year’s Christmas cards, as we’ll cut them up too recycle into new designs.
