Singer guitarist Roger Channing performs at Loose Valley Care Home

On Thursday 31st March we welcomed Roger Channing to entertain us at Loose Valley Care Home.

Roger plays electric guitar and also sings – an experienced musician with a vast repertoire of songs. He’s been a professional musician for more than 25 years and was in a resident band at the Empire in Leicester Square.

Roger used to play in a band called ‘Hot Stuff‘, where he toured worldwide and had three hit singles with RCA record label. He also appeared on ITV’s ‘New faces’ show. Most recently he has been performing worldwide as a member of the ‘Upbeat Beatles‘.

Roger enjoys bringing his songs into care home settings, where he finds his music is well suited to most age groups, residents as well as staff.

His performance started with The Shadows and some great guitar work. We then enjoyed country music, disco, Matt Monro, Engelbert Humperdink and some classic 1960s hits, with plenty of songs to sing along with and sway to.

The ‘Foot tapper‘, which is a guitar solo instrumental, got everyone’s feet tapping! He had a new blue Fender guitar which he was trying out.

Our residents loved Roger’s music and we will look forward to welcoming him again soon.
