1960s Through the Decades divas show at Loose Valley Care Home

We had a great time with our residents at Loose Valley Care Home celebrating the fabulous 1960s on Monday 4 April, as part of our ‘Through the Decades’ events.

It was fun-filled day which took us on a magical musical tour of the decade, exploring the flower power generation with props, including the famous VW campervan, made by Paula from our Recreation and Well-Being team.

Lots of ‘Yeah, Baby!’ and ‘You’re Groovy!‘s could be heard during the day as we celebrated the era of peace, love, and flower power – with the peace symbol hanging on a chain and plenty of tie-dye and flowers in our hair.

Our Activities team and residents all dressed up in 60s gear, flares and flower power outfits. Even Billy cat and Bella bunny got into a groovy vibe!

We welcomed singer Jasmine, who dressed up in a short sequin dress and entertained us all with some fabulous 60s music. The ‘60s Divas‘ included Dusty Springfield, Sandy Shaw, Lulu and Diana Ross, to name but a few!

Paula and Stacey acted as back up singers and dancers for the feather boa song ‘Stop in the name of love’ – with the feathers draped around their shoulders. They learnt a routine by following Jasmine’s steps and there were lots of smiles and laughs as they joined in.

Shake your tail feather‘ and ‘Help!’ were the last couple of 1960s songs from the decade and our residents joined in as Stacey had kindly made them each a song book of Jasmine’s tunes.

What a joyful day remembering the swinging 60s and those fabulous divas!
