Chinese Year of the Horse at Loose Valley Care Home

Therapy Pony

We were delighted to welcome adorable Shetland pony George to Loose Valley Care Home on Thursday 19th February. His visit coincided perfectly with our Chinese New Year celebrations, marking the Year of the Horse in the Chinese calendar.

George’s gentle nature and thick, fluffy winter coat made him a joy to spend time with. Our ladies and gents enjoyed stroking him and offering small treats including pony pellets and polo mints! George even took part in a themed photoshoot, wearing a Chinese-style hat for the occasion – much to everyone’s delight.

One of the most special parts of the day was when George visited our residents’ bedrooms. He received plenty of fuss and attention, spreading warmth and cheer throughout our Home.

Animal Therapy visits, whether from dogs, cats or even ponies, can bring many benefits. They encourage interaction, spark conversation, promote emotional well-being and create meaningful shared experiences.

Thank you, George, for coming to see us – we were all so thrilled to meet you.
