Chinese New Year celebrations at Loose Valley Care Home

We enjoyed getting ready for Chinese New Year last week at Loose Valley Care Home when we came together to paint Chinese pictures and make some pretty themed lanterns – and this week our residents celebrated the Chinese New Year to blow away the January blues!

2023 is the year of the rabbit and we injected loads of colour into our conservatory with all our wonderful decorations.

Our ladies dressed up in traditional clothes and had fun posing for the camera. Everyone got involved throughout the day and we enjoyed some delicious Chinese food for lunch, with Chinese music playing in the background.

We then tried our hand at painting our names in Chinese.

Paula from our Recreation and Well-Being Team made everyone lucky red envelopes as part of the celebrations – they included a handmade felt rabbit, a gold (chocolate) coin (for luck!) and a necklace to wear, along with place cards with our residents’ names in Chinese and their Chinese New Year animal.

Of course, Billy our cat got involved which brought a real smile to our faces!
