Rodents and reptiles visit Loose Valley Care Home

River’s Rodents and Reptiles, run by owner River Lismer, visited Loose Valley Care Home on Tuesday 26 March.

River takes his animals around to schools, parties, Care Homes and other settings providing a hands-on live animal experience, with fun, educational facts to explain about the animals’ diet and how they live in the wild.

We met five animals with River:

A blue-tongued skink lizard
A corn snake
Tortoise
Guinea pig
Rats

Our residents have met these interesting creatures three times now over the year, so are quite happy to see them and hold them. A few were a bit reluctant at first, but got braver when the furry animals came out.

It was a great session, and to actually hold them and stroke them was a lovely sensory experience.
