Community links at Loose Valley Care Home

Last week, our team here at Loose Valley Care Home saw the start of what is hopefully a long friendship with a local primary school.

Creating links with our local community is a great way for our residents to maintain their personal sense of connection with local people and organisations around us.

We welcomed eight Year 4 students from Loose Valley Primary School one afternoon; they walked down the hill on a short 10-minute walk to the Home. They bought along their current reading books and some of the schoolwork they are currently doing.

Everyone was introduced to each other and the children joined our residents in the conservatory for some socialisation; it was so lovely for the room to be filled with conversation.

The children really brightened up the afternoon and we are looking forward to welcoming them once a week – giving all the children in their classes an opportunity to visit us.
