We love our animals here at Loose Valley Care Home; we have rabbits, ducks, guinea pigs, a cat named Billy, and of course, chickens!
We took one of our baby chicks around to the residents today; they are so cute and soft! The chick has lots of feathers and looks like a young adult chicken now. The eggs came from our chickens in the garden and were hand reared by our Head Housekeeper Debbie.
A couple of our residents used to keep chickens – our lady Molly and her Dad had them at their farm when she was growing up; Roy said his Dad worked in a chicken slaughter house and plucked them, it wasn’t a job he wanted to do so he went into Engineering.
