Crafters for Carers PPE donations to Loose Valley Care Home

We have been very grateful to receive some PPE donations recently at Loose Valley Care Home from an initiative called Crafters for Carers.

Crafters for Carers is run and organised by a lady called Charmayne Ferrier-Brown, who has kindly provided us with ear savers in the past which make masks more comfortable to wear, as they can be painful around the ears if worn all day.

She got in touch with us again recently to ask if we’d like a batch of 16 gowns made from new duvets, along with 100 different ear savers and headbands.

We said ‘yes please!’ and she arranged delivery from a local Maidstone coordinator who has access to VRUK – a biker group who have volunteered during the pandemic and deliver supplies for free to Care Homes. Juliette was the delivery driver on Sunday who brought them to us.

The gowns meet the criteria for reusable gowns laid out by Public Health England and came in a mix of colours and patterns. They all went through a hot wash with anti-bacterial gel and were then hot tumble dried, ready for use.

Huge thanks to the Crafters for Carers group and Juliette for their kind efforts. The items will be very much appreciated by our staff.
