Macmillan Coffee Morning at Loose Valley Care Home

Staff, residents and visitors at Loose Valley Care Home enjoyed a fantastic charity coffee morning on Friday 27 September, the annual Macmillan Cancer Support ‘Biggest Coffee Morning’.

Cake and cheese feast

There were three delicious cakes to choose from, made by our Domestic Assistant Debbie; Coffee & Walnut, Strawberries & Cream and Coconut & Cream. Our lovely Chef Glen made yummy cheese scones and sausages rolls, and Karen made savoury cheese straws.

Singalong

We had a wartime singalong and a general knowledge quiz, with a speciality quiz on chocolate with our Recreation and Well-Being Champion, Paula. One of our residents was visited by two grandchildren who are dancers; They enjoyed a slice of cake each before remarking,”We shouldn’t really be eating this! We’ll need to do some more dancing to burn the calories off!”

Fun fundraising

It was a great morning where everyone indulged and could not resist the temptation of the cakes and savoury treats. We raised an amazing £100 from cake sales and donations from families and staff. All the money will be going to the very worthy cause – Macmillan Cancer Support.

A little of what you fancy does you good! Thank you very much to everyone who came and made a donation.
