The Queens funeral and PJ and Rose at Loose Valley Care Home

The Queen’s funeral

Our residents at Loose Valley Care Home watched the State funeral of our dear Queen Elizabeth 11 on Monday 19 September. It was a sad but beautiful occasional watched by millions of people worldwide tuning in to see our Queen laid to rest.

We said a fond farewell to her Majesty with the royal family; we thought Prince George and Princess Charlotte did so well under all the pressures of the public watching, with crowds and crowds of people who loved the Queen and the royal family, wanting to see the Queen’s last journey.

We settled down early in the lounge and watched the whole procession of the coffin being moved to Westminster Chapel where the funeral service was conducted.

It was very moving and touching, but it was also a celebration of her life and what she gave to her country. First a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother; rest in peace Ma’am.

Our residents felt part of the goodbyes to our Majesty and wrote in our book of condolence.

PJ and Rose

In the afternoon we were treated to some wonderful entertainment from Peter and Emma Rose – a family duo called PJ and Rose who perform a mix of jazz and swing, with accordion music playing alongside Emma’s cabaret-style vocals.

They were excellent and lifted our mood immensely with their beautiful mix of new vintage songs, including:

I just want to be loved by you
Diamonds are a girl’s best friend
Sentimental journey
You make me feel so young
Bye bye blackbird
George Michael’s Careless Whisper
