Teddy Bears Picnic at Loose Valley Care Home

This week we enjoyed a Teddy Bears Picnic at Loose Valley Care Home with our residents.

Unfortunately, the weather wasn’t on our side, so it became an indoor event in our conservatory, but we certainly made the most of it!

Our residents got to pick a bear to ‘adopt’, along with a certificate of ownership, giving them their names. Of course, our Home cat Billy wanted to be centre stage and got in one of the baskets thinking it looked like a great bed!

Everyone enjoyed a traditional picnic lunch, including sandwiches, cheese and pineapple, and all the old favourites along with a selection of cakes and muffins. Big thanks to our lovely Chef Joe!

It was a wonderful experience having everyone singing and we journeyed back in time to the carefree days of childhood – a great way to reminisce with special memories and get to know each other better.

It was so surprising to see how many residents still had their childhood bears and we even had a special Rupert Bear from 1951!
