Pink Day for Breast Cancer Awareness at Loose Valley Care Home

As October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Friday 21 October was ‘Wear It Pink’ Day, we turned Loose Valley Care Home pink in our Reception and conservatory, with decorations, displays and bunting.

Our residents and staff joined in the pink theme by wearing pink dresses, t-shirts, socks or a pink ribbon to show their support.

Dee our Chef made some wonderful pink cakes and a sponge cake with raspberry jam and coconut mallow biscuits to continue the theme for our afternoon tea. It certainly was ‘pink power’ at Loose Valley, with pink fizz, pink table napkins and pink roses!

As part of the fun, we hosted a pink animals quiz and there are quite a few! Axolotl, flamingo, shrimp, orchid mantis, small elephant hawk moths and amazon river dolphins!

We had a lovely time with our pink day activities themed around the colour, including decorating some lady silohettes with pink tissue paper gowns. Beautiful!

At our Reception we had a fish bowl of pink ribbons and a collection box for donations – to highlight breast cancer awareness and the importance of early detection.
