Nepalese Day at Loose Valley Care Home

Here at Loose Valley Care Home we have three lovely Nepalese team members Yasoda, Pooja and Nur, so we decided to arrange an armchair travel experience to Nepal; they were very excited about it and so were our residents as they were keen to learn all about the fascinating country and its culture.

You may not be a mountaineer, but virtual travel can take you to the world’s highest mountain! We gave our residents the feeling of what it must be like standing at the base camp of Mount Everest with our Everest backdrop, tent and windhorse prayer flags, plus pictures of Nepal that we had painted the week before displayed on our windows.

We were delighted to watch Nur and Yasoda dance the traditional Nepalese way in their beautiful sarees. The dance sequences depicted themes such as courtship, work and play. It was so graceful and elegant involving hand and arm movements and gentle steps – it was truly captivating to watch them perform their heritage through dance.

Our residents enjoyed the performance and hearing about Nepal with team member Paula’s facts about this wonderful country. What a beautiful day we had together.

Loose Valley Care Home hosts a colourful Nepalese Day
