Loose Valley Care Home residents enjoy a classic day out by the coast

On Tuesday 8 July, we took a lovely trip from Loose Valley Care Home to the charming seaside town of Herne Bay. With the sun shining and blue skies overhead, it was the perfect day to head to the coast.

Our minibus set off with three of our residents – David, Trevor and Bob – and we arrived at the seafront just before 11:30am, ready for a relaxing few hours by the sea.

We parked the Nellsar minibus overlooking the water and set off on a gentle stroll along the promenade. The walk to the pier was full of lovely sights, from the colourful beach huts and wooden pier shops to the sound of seagulls overhead and children fishing for crabs off the edge. It brought back many fond memories of classic British seaside holidays.

After a wander around, we made our way back towards the famous clock tower, where we sat down outside to enjoy some delicious fish and chips. As expected, a few cheeky seagulls kept a close eye on our meals, but we were careful not to let them steal any!

After lunch, we took another stroll along the seafront and ended the outing with a treat from the local ice cream shop – classic 99 cones with chocolate flakes all round. We sat together opposite the clock tower, soaking up the sunshine and enjoying our desserts.

By the time we returned to the minibus, everyone was feeling full, content, and grateful for such a lovely day out. Herne Bay’s welcoming charm and fresh sea air made it a perfect getaway for a few relaxing hours.
