Loose Valley Care Home residents celebrate Elvis’s birthday

On Thursday 8 January, we marked what would have been Elvis Presley’s 91st birthday with a special tribute at Loose Valley Care Home. Many of our residents are Elvis fans, making it a lovely opportunity to celebrate his life and remarkable musical legacy together.

Our residents enjoyed reminiscing while listening to a selection of Elvis’s greatest hits, including Love Me Tender, Blue Suede Shoes and Hound Dog. Alongside the music, we spent time learning more about Elvis’s early life, the influences that shaped his career and the incredible impact he had on the world of music and film.

An Elvis-themed quiz proved popular, with our residents surprised to discover just how many songs and albums he recorded, as well as the fact that he starred in around 30 films! It sparked plenty of conversation and fond memories of watching his films and listening to his music over the years.

Janet is a number one fan and proudly keeps an Elvis calendar in her bedroom – a Christmas gift from her sister. She can be heard humming along to the music when we have Elvis singers visiting our Home. Lilian enjoyed the celebrations and was amazed to learn just how many films Elvis had made. Luna the puppy joined us too, happily observing the pictures and quiz during the afternoon.

What a lovely tribute, celebrating the enduring legacy of the King of Rock ‘n Roll.
