India Day at Loose Valley Care Home

On Thursday 20 April, we were excited to take our Loose Valley Care Home residents to India – well, take India to them!

Paula from our Recreation and Well-Being Team worked tirelessly making all the decorations, including gorgeous little felt elephants for each of our residents and staff members as a memento of the day.

We had every colour you could possibly imagine filling our conservatory and the sun even shone for us all which made everything even more vibrant.

We played Indian music and served delicious Indian cuisine for lunch – curry, rice, naan bread, poppadoms, onion bhajis and samosas; a real feast which everyone thoroughly enjoyed.

After lunch our lovely care staff got changed into something more appropriate for the theme, with some beautiful clothes brought in from home. They loved joining in the fun and helping to dress all our residents in saris, hats and accessories, everyone looked wonderful!

We also tried our hand at jewellery making (bracelets or necklaces), using an array of coloured beads tied with silver and gold thread.

It was so fantastic to bring everyone together for a fun-packed time at our Home, including staff from our kitchen, our care staff, nurses, domestic staff and activities team. What a great day!
